Edit attributes of multiple assets in a single operation – THRON Guide

When you need to align attributes across dozens or hundreds of assets, you don't need to open them one by one: select the group you are interested in and apply changes in a single operation. Bulk editing allows you to fill in missing attributes, standardize inconsistent values, and clear those you no longer use across the entire selection in one single step.

Prerequisites: you must have the Can edit (or Can manage assets) permission on all assets you select. If you use Select all inside a folder, you need edit permission on the assets in that folder.

Start bulk editing

In Digital Assets, select the assets you want to modify. Use Select all if you want to act on the entire contents of the folder.
The Smartbar appears on the right with the actions available for the selection.
Click on Edit attributes.

How the editing window works

The window is divided into two areas: Available attributes on the left and the editor on the right.

Available attributes

Lists all attributes by name and type. Check the ones you want to edit: they immediately appear in the editor on the right.

If the list is long, filter it by attribute name or code, or by Type.

Attribute editor

Displays the attributes you checked, each with its input field. The Locale selector at the top defines which locale you are writing values for when using localized attributes.

Note: An attribute checked on the left but left on Keep unchanged is not touched. The system leaves it exactly as it is across all selected assets.

Available operations

For text, date, Single selection, and boolean attributes, the value you enter replaces the current value on all selected assets.

For Multiple selection attributes, you instead have a menu that lets you choose how to handle existing values.

Add	Adds the specified values to existing ones
Replace all	Removes existing values and replaces them with the specified ones
Find and remove	Removes only the specified values, leaving the others unchanged
Remove all	Completely clears the attribute. Does not require entering any value

Which operation to choose

Warning: Replace all and Remove all delete existing values on all selected assets, not just incomplete ones. Double-check your selection before proceeding.

Apply changes

The Execute button in the bottom right is enabled only when at least one attribute has a value or an operation to apply.

When you click it, the platform applies changes to all selected assets, clears the selection, and refreshes the asset list.

Automate enrichment with AI

Bulk editing is the right tool when you need to act on a set of assets already in the platform, or populate attributes that depend on business decisions.

If your goal instead is to populate descriptions, alternative text, and semantic attributes on the assets you upload, configure the Asset Enrichment automation: AI populates these attributes upon upload without manual intervention. Troubleshooting

The Edit attributes button is disabled

You are missing edit permission on at least one of the selected assets. Hover over the button: the tooltip explains the reason. Narrow your selection to assets you have permissions for, or ask your THRON contact to align your folder permissions.

I cannot use Select all on the folder

To act on the entire contents of a folder, you need edit permission on the assets in that folder. Verify this with whoever manages permissions in your organization.
