Digital Assets: How to remove and delete
In THRON there are two distinct operations that are often confused: removing an Asset from a folder and deleting it from the Platform. The consequences are very different: read this page before proceeding.
Attention: Permanently deleting an Asset is irreversible. Once the trash is emptied, content cannot be recovered.
Removing an Asset from a folder
Removing an Asset from a folder means removing it from that specific folder without deleting it from the Platform. The Asset remains available in all other folders where it is shared and continues to be delivered normally.
When to use: when reorganizing your folder tree or revoking access for a specific group without affecting content availability elsewhere.
How to execute
Open Asset details.
Go to the Shareboard section in the side menu.
In the Folders section, locate the folder from which you want to remove the Asset.
Click the – button to the right of the folder.
Confirm the operation.
Consequences:
The Asset is no longer visible to users accessing through that folder.
The Asset remains intact in the Platform and across all other folders where it is shared.
Delivery remains active if the Asset is present in other folders.
The Asset sharing status remains unchanged: embed codes, delivery, and presence in other folders are not modified. You can check the current status at any time from the Asset Shareboard.
Deleting an Asset: the User Trash
When you delete an Asset, it is not erased immediately: it is moved to your User Trash, from which you can recover it in case of error.
The deleted Asset is also visible in the Platform Trash, accessible to Admins or users with specific permissions. See the dedicated section below.
Attention: Moving an Asset to the trash immediately affects its distribution. Review the consequences below before proceeding.
Immediate consequences:
The Asset is removed from all folders where it was shared.
All access rights are revoked.
All embed codes generated for that Asset are deleted.
CDN delivery is stopped: Asset URLs become unreachable. Any web page or application displaying it via embed or direct link will show unavailable content.
How to delete an Asset
Select the Asset (or multiple Assets) from the list.
Click on Delete in the context menu or action bar.
Confirm the operation.
How to restore an Asset from User Trash
Go to Digital Assets and select Trash from the left-hand menu.
Locate the Asset to recover.
Click the Restore icon (up arrow) to the right of the row.
The restored Asset returns to the private folder of its original owner. To make it visible to other users again, share it back to the appropriate folders.
Note: Embed codes deleted when sending an Asset to trash are not automatically regenerated upon restoration. You will need to recreate them manually.
The Platform Trash
Restricted to users with the Admin role.
The Platform Trash aggregates all Assets deleted by any user. From here you can monitor, restore, or permanently delete pending content, as well as configure automatic cleanup.
How to access
Go to Platform Settings.
In the side menu, under Deleted Assets, select Trash.
Available actions
Search an Asset by name, with filtering by Type (All, Image, Video, Document…).
Restore an Asset: click the up arrow icon to the right of the row. The Asset returns to the private folder of its original owner.
Permanently delete an Asset: click the trash icon to the right of the row. This action is irreversible.
Empty trash: permanently delete all contents in a single operation.
Automatic cleanup
Use the Empty trash automatically parameter at the top of the list to define after how many days Assets are permanently deleted. The default value is never.
Attention: Once the configured period expires, Assets are permanently deleted without further confirmation.
