How content is tracked and consumed in the THRON platform
THRON tracks every action performed on your content and measures how much it is used over time. Use this guide to navigate the dedicated tools and learn how to configure access permissions before any action is even tracked.
Scenario |
Method |

You want to know who created, modified, deleted, viewed, or downloaded a specific content |
Platform Audit |
You want to know how much traffic and how many requests your content generates externally, domain by domain |

You want to measure the traffic and the number of assets generated by your account over time |

Folder rights and user & group permissions |
Track every action with Platform Audit
Platform Audit logs every action performed in THRON in real time: creations, modifications, deletions, and other operations such as logins, viewing, and downloads of content. Each log entry records the date, user or application, action performed, browser, operating system, and IP address.
Use it when you need to reconstruct what happened to a content item, verify compliance with an internal policy, or respond to an audit request.
Restricted access
The console is visible only to users with the Can administer Platform Audit permission. If you don't see this item in the menu, contact your system administrator.
Practical example: who deleted a content in the last 30 days
Click the settings icon next to your avatar, then select Platform Audit under Platform Tools.
Set Start date and End date to your desired timeframe.
Select Content in Type and enable only the Removal toggle.
Click Start search.

Analyze content traffic and requests with Analytics
Analytics answers two questions about content delivery: how much traffic external assets have generated, and how many requests have reached THRON. The two sections, Traffic and Requests, share the same structure and only differ in their unit of measurement: data volume in the former and request count in the latter.
Use it when you need to understand where your content consumption comes from: which domains generate it, which asset types and formats weigh the most, and from which devices and countries requests originate.
To open it, click the settings icon next to your avatar and select Analytics under Platform Tools. In the sidebar you will find the Traffic and Requests sections under Analytics, and optimization proposals under Suggestions. The period selector in the top right applies the same interval to all charts on the page and offers This month and Last 3 months. Your selection is remembered on your user profile, so on your next visit you will see the period you used last.
Restricted access
The section is visible to users with the Administrator role or with the Can access Analytics permission. If you do not see it in the menu, contact your system administrator.
Traffic: available views
View |
What it tells you |
|---|---|
Total traffic |
The total volume delivered during the period, with a month-by-month trend. |
Top 100 domains traffic |
Which domains generate the most traffic, with domain names color-coded between THRON domains and external domains. A dedicated item collects traffic not attributable to a specific domain, such as when the referrer is not sent or requests come from a mobile app. |
Traffic by asset type |
How volume is split between images, videos, audio, and other content: the quickest way to see if a single media type dominates delivery costs. |
Traffic by image format |
How much volume is generated by JPEG/JPG, PNG, and WEBP formats, with an evaluation of how much traffic you are spending on unoptimized formats. |
Traffic by device |
How much traffic comes from desktop, mobile, and bots. A high bot percentage is a useful signal when investigating unexpected traffic surges. |
Traffic by country |
Countries generating the most volume, in descending order. |
Requests: what changes compared to traffic
The Requests section replicates the same views counting requests instead of delivered volume, and adds a ranking of the 10 most requested assets, including preview, name, and owner for each.
Practical example: understanding why traffic increased
Open Analytics > Traffic and set the period selector to Last 3 months to read the trend.
Check the device breakdown: an abnormal bot share is the primary suspect.
Sort domains from highest to lowest traffic and check whether the increase comes from a single domain.
Check the asset type and image format to determine if volume stems from heavy or unoptimized files.
Optimization suggestions: what they offer
When the platform detects an optimization opportunity, it alerts you with a Suggestion, explaining the opportunity, quantifying its benefit over the selected period, and directing you to where the change can be applied. Suggestions do not apply any changes automatically:
Suggestions > Modern Formats: compares the volume currently generated by JPEG images against the estimated volume in WEBP and shows expected savings, since WEBP reduces image file size by about 26 percent.
Suggestions > Domain Filters: suggests restricting the domains authorized to display your content, via whitelist or blacklist mode, both to control traffic and govern content distribution.
A domain filter is a production change
It alters who can access already published content. Coordinate with content managers before applying it: a whitelist that is too restrictive or an erroneous entry in a blacklist will block legitimate delivery.
Analytics or Platform Usage?
Use Analytics to understand where content consumption comes from, domain by domain, and how to reduce it. Use Platform Usage to monitor your account's aggregate trend, assets, and traffic month by month, and to plan capacity.

Measure aggregate consumption with Platform Usage
Platform Usage displays your account's business metrics. The Digital Assets chart indicates the maximum number of assets reached during the month; the Traffic chart displays traffic generated by content delivery over the same period. Narrow the timeframe using the period selector, offering last year, last 2 years, and last 3 years.
Use it to understand consumption trends over time, plan capacity, or feed internal reporting.
To open it, click the settings icon next to your avatar and select Platform Usage under Platform Tools.
Restricted access
The section is visible only to users with the Can access Platform Usage permission. If you do not see it, ask your system administrator to assign it to you.
How to read the asset count
The chart shows the peak reached during the month, not the number of assets visible at the end of the period: if you upload 10 assets and delete 8, at the end of the month you see 2 in the platform but the count records 10. Each uploaded version counts as an asset, so an asset with 4 versions (one active and three previous) counts as 4.
Govern access before it is even tracked
Audit and platform usage record what has already happened. The most effective level of control remains preventive: folder rights and user/group management decide who can do what before any action ends up in the log.
