Configure Groups and Users
Users and Work Groups are the foundation of the access and collaboration system in THRON. Configuring them correctly allows you to replicate your organization's structure within the platform, ensuring that everyone accesses exactly what they need.
The configuration is divided into three phases:
Group Creation and definition of Platform Permissions
User Creation and assignment to Groups
Application of Rights on folders and contents
Create and Manage Work Groups
Work Groups allow you to replicate the company structure and manage permissions centrally: instead of configuring each user individually, you assign permissions to the Group and all users within it inherit them automatically. Access the Users and Groups area:
Create a new Work Group
Click on + New User or Group > New Group
Enter the Group name (e.g., Marketing UK, Product Team)
Assign the Primary role of the group (see dedicated section)
You can add users to the group right after creation, or later.
Modify or Delete a Group
Modify: Select the group from the list and click Modify to update name, users or permissions.
Delete: Select the group and click Delete. Users belonging to the group are not deleted, but they lose the permissions associated with it.
Create and Manage Users
Create a new User
Go to Users and Groups
Click on + New User or Group > New User
-
Fill in the mandatory fields:
First and Last Name
Username (without spaces or special characters)
Email
Primary role (see dedicated section)
Assign the user to one or more Groups: you can do this by entering the user details and editing the list of membership groups; in this way the user will automatically inherit the permissions and access rights of the group
A user can belong to multiple Groups simultaneously. In case of conflicting permissions, the most permissive permission always prevails.
Platform Roles and Permissions
Permissions define what each user can see and do within THRON.
Roles are groupings of such Permissions.
Below is an overview of the main areas:
Area |
Examples of Permissions |
|---|---|
Digital Assets |
Upload assets, create folders, publish to folders |
Delivery |
Share via link, email or embed; manage templates |
Products |
View, create, modify or delete products |
Asset Workflow |
Access the area and manage campaigns |
Automation Studio |
View and manage automations |
Platform Tools |
Access Analytics, manage Applications and Connectors |
Settings |
Manage users/groups, audit, security, brand identity |
For the complete list of permissions available for each area, refer to the dedicated guide Platform Permissions.
Best Practices
Model Groups on the real structure of the organization, not on people. Create groups that reflect roles and responsibilities (e.g., Marketing UK, Ecommerce Team), not specific users.
Agility in Setup: Immediately create the work groups you know you need and add users progressively. Don't worry if you don't have all the information right away: you can update and refine members at any time.
Cyclical Review: Remember to review the assignment of users and permissions when a user changes role, a project ends or active modules on the platform change.
Remember that platform permissions must always be combined with Access Rights on folders to ensure complete governance.

Troubleshooting
Can't create a user or group? Check that you have the Can create and administer users, user groups and the Password Policy permission.
A user doesn't see the content they should see? Check that the user is assigned to the correct Group and that the Group has the appropriate Access Rights on the destination folder.
A user has access to content they shouldn't see? Remember that in case of membership in multiple Groups, the most permissive permission prevails. Review the assignment to Groups.
